Our beloved Viola Epstein Kaplan passed away on September 18, 2017, at the age of 98 years.Viola was born in 1919 in Chicago, Illinois but settled in the Northeast for the majority of her long life. During World War II Viola served in the Woman’s Army Corp and traveled extensively around the world as special assistant to General Douglas MacArthur.In addition to her career in Finance, Viola also taught cooking classes, bridge classes and served on the boards of numerous organizations including as president of The Woman’s Hadassah Zionist Organization of New Jersey (1974-1976). She also received the esteemed honor of Who’s Who for Women in 1987.Twice a Cancer survivor – Viola demonstrated tremendous strength and resiliency throughout her extraordinary life.Viola was married to Herbert George Kaplan until his passing in 2001. She is survived by daughters, Ronna (Levy), Debra, Michael and Clifford, and 5 grandchildren, Zach, Jessica, Ben, Madeline and Melis.A Celebration of Viola’s life was held at Oyster Creek Manor in Missouri City.Memorial donations can be made to any charity of your choosing.
