Stuart Miller

Dr. Stuart B. Miller of Houston passed away Thursday, January 30, 2014. He was born in Denver, Colorado September 4, 1946 to Frieda and Morris “Billy” Miller.Stuart earned his undergraduate degree at the University of Colorado Boulder and his Doctor of Optometry at the University of Houston. Upon graduation, he served in the Air Force as an optometrist at Randolph Air Force Base. Returning to the Houston area,Stuart settled in Fort Bend County working as an optometrist. In the early 1980’s, he founded his own practice, which continued to have a strong presence in Fort Bend until his retirement in 2011. Stuart enjoyed being active for much of his adult life and in his free time, he could be found playing golf or tennis. Additionally, Stuart will be remembered by his family for his great sense of humor. He always demonstrated great delight in revealing his newest jokes.Stuart is survived by his wife of 22 years, Liebe Miller, his daughter and son-in-law, Michelle and Putnam Roberts, and his son and daughter-in-law, Adam and Rebecca Miller. He also leaves behind his beloved granddaughters, Ada Roberts and Ellanor Miller, as well as loving family and friends in Houston and Denver.The family would like to extend its gratitude to the staffs of The Amazing Place,AutumnGrove Cottage at Pearland, and Hospice Plus for their love and care in Stuart’s final years.A memorial service was held at 11am Monday, February 3, 2014 at Congregation Emanu El, 1500 Sunset Blvd, Houston, TX 77005. Interment took place 10am Tuesday, February 4, 2014 at Emanu El Memorial Park, 8341 Bissonnet, Houston, TX  77074.In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made UT Health, 7000 Fannin Ste 1200, Houston, TX 77030 and designated toward Dr. Paul Schulz’s dementia research.
