Steven Kormendy

Steven was a true New Yorker- born in the Bronx, went to public school in Queens, and worked for the City of New York for 37 years.  He was proud that he could find any location on the subway.For years, Steven talked about moving to Houston to be near his immediately family-Terry, Barry, and their daughters, husbands, and grandchildren. Other family members are cousins, Karen and Ben who arrived from Seattle today.6 weeks ago, Steven became acutely ill, and he moved to Houston. The nieces and nephews packed his 48 years of “life” and Steven began his new “life” along with his cat, Cloe!The last 6 weeks of his life were among the best. He spent time with all of the kids and he participated in the activities at his senior living complex. Unfortunately, his pulmonary problems had accelerated too far to be treated successfully,Steven had a strong affinity for all animals, especially cats. He called himself the “Catman” and Cloe was his special child. Over the years, he accumulated several collections of horses and cats.Steven passed away on June 1, 2019 with his family by his side.He was laid to rest in the Jewish Section of Forest Park Woodlands in The Woodlands, Texas.Steven will be remembered for his soft heart and youthful spirit.
