Dr. Robert Beitman, 74, passed away peacefully on April 16, 2025, surrounded by family in Houston, Texas. He was born on July 24, 1950, in Detroit, Michigan, to the late Max and the late Beatrice Beitman.
Known as "Bob" by his friends, he was a brilliant man with a generous spirit and a passion for helping others. He loved tennis, boating, motorcycles, being near the water, and traveling to Florida and Mexico as often as he could. As an ophthalmologist, Dr. Beitman was a pioneer in LASIK surgery and recognized as a leader in the field. His skill, compassion, and calming presence earned him the trust of countless patients whose lives were changed by his work.
Family was the heart of Bob’s world. He was the beloved husband of Keri Beitman; proud father of Jordyn (Mike) Goldman, Katie (Matt) Waldstein, Hayley (Hugh) Stangeland, and Carly (Kevin) Dates; loving grandfather of Mia, Shane, and Luke Goldman, Maddie and Audrey Stangeland, Emma and Noah Waldstein, and Drew Dates; and dear brother of Shirley Bernstein.
Bob will be deeply missed and remembered for his warmth, wisdom, and enduring impact.
A private graveside burial for immediate family will be held at Emanu El in Houston, officiated by Rabbi Dan Gordon.
