Mark Andrew (Drew) Zimmerman, beloved son, brother, uncle, cousin, and friend passed from this life on Thursday, March 7, 2024, at the age of 37. He will be forever missed by his parents, Stephen and Rebecca Zimmerman; his brother and sister-in-law, Daniel and Kirsten Zimmerman; and nephew and niece, Asher and Arielle Zimmerman. His dog Timber, whom he cherished, will also miss him dearly.
Drew was born and raised in Houston, Texas where he attended Memorial High School before going on to play Division 1 soccer at Florida International University. Following FIU, he pursued his dream of playing professional soccer which took him to Mexico, Italy, and France. He continued to follow his passion and shared his love for the game while coaching at St. Thomas University. He spent summers at his parents’ home in the South of France and developed a zest for travel. Later in life, this led him to pursue opportunities in international business and consulting.
Drew was a proud member of the Jewish faith and Beth Yeshurun synagogue. He spent his life devoted to family, friends and loved ones. Drew was known for his soft, compassionate, and kind heart. Everyone who knew him appreciated his generosity, adventurous personality, and “joie de vivre.”
In Drew’s own words, “I’m lucky to know so many amazing people I can call family and friends.”
In lieu of flowers, the Zimmerman family would appreciate donations to the youth soccer pillar of the Dynamo Charities, with a note “in memory of Mark Zimmerman.” https://www.houstondynamofc.com/charities/youth-enrichment
