Jay Matthew Weiss was born to Della Weiss on December 29, 1955, in New York. He passed away at home on January 16, 2025. Jay grew up in an Orthodox Jewish household and was a rebellious teenager who eventually found his path in the Navy. As a sailor in the United States Navy, he became pen pals with Lisa Ingraham. When Jay was on shore, they would visit, and after his final tour, they married. After nearly 40 years of marriage, they took the words “till death do us part” very seriously. Lisa died from complications of COVID-19 in January 2022. Throughout their time together, not a single day passed without Jay being by her side. He loved her fiercely. Jay had three other passions, all of which he shared with Lisa. The first was his beautiful Harley-Davidson motorcycle; they would ride on Sundays as part of their ritual. They had his and her motorcycles. The second was his love for reading, especially fantasy novels like The Lord of the Rings. When they were younger, they used stacks of books as nightstands. The third passion was his gun collection. On Saturdays, Lisa and Jay would visit the shooting range. Later in life, Lisa and Jay settled into reading books and watching movies, including Star Trek, Star Wars, James Bond films, and classic westerns. In the last couple of years, Jay was more solitary. He will rest at Emanu El Memorial Park, in Houston, next to his beloved Lisa, on Wednesday, January 29, 2025, at 11 a.m., Rabbi Barry Cohen Officiating.
