David Hooks

David Mark Hooks passed away at his home in Dallas on November 12, 2014, at the age of 53. Born in Houston, Texas, on August 4, 1961, David graduated from Houston’s Awty International School and attended the University of St. Thomas. David was always a people person and loved being with friends and family. Due to this natural talent, David excelled in sales, and held several top-level positions throughout the state, primarily in the automobile industry. He was most known for his love of family and keen sense of humor. David had a love for hockey and always remained loyal to his favorite hometown team the Dallas Stars. His fondness for shar-peis was evident, having owned several over the last 15 years. Overcoming addiction, David was proud to be 30 years sober.Preceded in death by his father Charles Hooks, David is survived by his mother, Geri Hooks (Houston); his son David Michael Hooks and daughter Jordan Hooks (Dallas); his grandson David Charles Hooks (Dallas); sisters Melisa and Jimmy Rhodes (North Richland Hills) and Kathy and Joe Mills (Houston); nephews Chad Hohensee (Baton Rouge) and Alex Mills (Houston); nieces Ashley Mills and Jennifer Mills (Houston); great-nephew Dean Mills (Houston); as well as numerous cousins and a lifetime of friends.Graveside services were on Sunday, November 16, 2014, at 2:45 PM at Emanu El Memorial Park, 8341 Bissonnet St., Houston, Texas, with Rabbi Roy Walter officiating.In lieu of flowers, donations in David’s memory may be made to the American Foundation for Suicide Prevention, www.afsp.org.Watch the video of the Funeral / Memorial Service here.
