Andrea Braver

June 4, 1955 — March 5, 2015

Andrea Braver, born June 4, 1955 in Houston, Texas, passed away Thursday, March 5, 2015.  A warrior in a five-month fight with acute myeloid leukemia, she lived and loved fiercely. She is survived by her devoted soul mate and husband of 32 years, Lane, her three loving children, Aaron (29), Alex (28), and Zachary (25), her brother and his wife Nelson and Lisa Lerner, her aunt and uncle Joy and Harris Jacobs, and her sisters-in-law Elizabeth Morgan and Angela Braver.A 1977 graduate of Pitzer College and a human resources manager at Broadway department store before becoming a mom, Andrea was quick to say her greatest accomplishment was her three children. A proud stay-at-home mother, Andrea put her whole soul into helping her sons become the best, truest versions of themselves.  She was a reliable and passionate presence on school and temple committees, drama clubs, and marching bands, all to ensure that her three boys thrived.  Though she wished for more time to see her sons grow and mature, she knew that she had given them the tools to ensure they were, as she said, “fully cooked”.Andrea was a connector—the friendships she forged transcended time zones.  Her friends in California would be quick to say that she was the glue that bonded them together for decades.  Only 2 ½ years after she moved with her husband to Del Webb Sweetgrass in Richmond, she was a central figure in the community: she started a Havurah with Lane, founded the Drama Club, and was a regular sight on the pickleball courts.  And for her extended family, Andrea was a beloved aunt, cousin, and friend—always the first to send a birthday card or make a phone call for any simcha. Her family will celebrate and honor her Sunday, March 8, 2015 at 2:00 pm, at Emanu El Memorial Park, 8341 Bissonnet, Houston, 77074 with Rabbi Daniel Horwitz officiating. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to: MD Anderson Cancer Center, Leukemia Research, P.O. Box 4486, Houston, TX 77210. (www.mdanderson.org/gifts)Watch the video of the Funeral / Memorial Service here.
